2025: Preview

Over 40,000 people from 135 nations have registered. Among them are two of Germany’s most prominent runners, Gesa Krause and Richard Ringer. Krause is a two-time European champion in the 3000m steeplechase and won silver at the 2024 European Championships in Rome. Ringer, meanwhile, claimed the European marathon title in Munich 2022. In Berlin, both will put themselves to the test over 21.0975 kilometres. The 44th GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON promises to be a spectacular sporting event, kicking off the 2025 running season on the streets of the capital. In this digital event magazine, you’ll find everything you need to know about Germany’s biggest half marathon, which will take place on 6 April 2025 on an even more exciting course, including some entirely new segments. We’ll introduce the favourites, as well as a few inspiring individuals running with a special personal motivation. You will find all the key dates, the best photos from previous years, and a look ahead at what runners and spectators can anticipate on race weekend in Berlin. Plus, we’ll share plenty of tips for the race itself and suggestions for making the most of your time in the city.

THE COURSE

THE COURSE CHARLOTTENBURG PALACE KM 4 | 5 ry Column at your feet and the Brandenburg Gate behind you, the first few metres of the run are simply spectacular. You run past the Technical University, across Ernst-Reuter-Platz and straight on for four kilometres past the Charlottenburg Palace. Here, where the new route leads across Schlossstrasse towards Sophie-Charlotte-Platz, the well-established samba The number of historical and cultural monuments you can see here in a short space of time is unrivalled by any tourist tour. With the Victoband Alegria do Samba plays the drums. The beats draw many spectators to this hot spot to cheer on the runners. Shortly before the seven-kilometre mark, the route takes a sharp left turn onto Berlin‘s most popular shopping boulevard, Kurfürstendamm—or Ku‘Damm for short. There, the tempo of the live music increases, more and more people line the course and the excitement rises. Passing the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, the route heads straight across Wittenbergplatz, home to the incredible KaDeWe department store, and Nollendorfplatz to Potsdamer Strasse. After Potsdamer Platz, you approach the centre of Berlin with the towering television tower on Ale- KM 15 | 16 POTSDAMER PLATZ

MEMORIAL CHURCH KM 9 | 10 xanderplatz. And from here, the density of top sights becomes ever higher. Thanks to the new route, you will get closer to Germany‘s tallest building (368 metres) than you did on the old route as you make your way through the centre of Berlin. Between kilometre 14 and 15, the route crosses the Gendarmenmarkt. Berlin‘s most beautiful square with the theatre, the French cathedral and the German cathedral is the most enthusiastic hot spot of the route. This is quickly followed by the newly rebuilt Berlin City Palace, which now shines in new splendour as the Humboldt Forum, after the ruins of the original palace were blown up in East German times to make way for the Palace of the Republic. This asbestos-laden GDR palace has been history since 2008. Shortly after the passing the palace, you can celebrate once again at the Adidas Runners cheering point before heading past Alexanderplatz for the final kilometres. KM 14 | 15 GENDARMENMARKT - 47 -
