Over 40,000 people from 135 nations have registered. Among them are two of Germany’s most prominent runners, Gesa Krause and Richard Ringer. Krause is a two-time European champion in the 3000m steeplechase and won silver at the 2024 European Championships in Rome. Ringer, meanwhile, claimed the European marathon title in Munich 2022. In Berlin, both will put themselves to the test over 21.0975 kilometres. The 44th GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON promises to be a spectacular sporting event, kicking off the 2025 running season on the streets of the capital. CARDIFF United Kingdom 5 October 2025 VALENCIA Spain 26 October 2025 Since its inception in 2003, the Cardiff Half Marathon has become one of the UK’s leading road races. With 27,500 participants each year, the event regularly sells out. It is one of the largest half marathons in Europe—a remarkable feat considering that only 1,500 runners took part in its first edition. The course showcases the best of Wales’ capital city, including the beautiful Cardiff Bay and the 12th-century Cardiff Castle. Thousands of spectators line the streets of this sports-loving city to cheer runners on. In 2016, Cardiff even hosted the World Half Marathon Championships. The Valencia Half Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich has been named the best half marathon in Spain by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation. And for good reason—it’s not only the best but also the fastest race in the country. The route, winding through the Mediterranean city’s centre, might even be the fastest in the world. Since 2017, three world records have been set here. The five fastest women’s half marathon times ever recorded were all run in Valencia. Ethiopian Letesenbet Gidey set the current world record of 62:52 here in 2021. Among the men, seven of the ten fastest half marathon performances of all time have also been clocked in Valencia. - 38 -

LISBON Portugal 8 March 2026 M A R K Y O U R C A L E N D A R S ! 45TH GENERALI BERLINER HALF MARATHON 29 MARCH 2026 With 27,000 participants, the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon is Portugal’s biggest running event. In November 2021, Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo set a world record of 57:31 on this mostly flat course along the Tagus River, passing historic landmarks like the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery. The start on the enormous 25 de Abril Bridge, with breathtaking views of the Christ the King statue on the river’s south bank, is an unforgettable experience. In 2024, Amanal Petros, Germany’s marathon and half marathon record holder from the Marathon Team Berlin, secured a strong third place in the Portuguese capital.
