2024: Preview

Over 36,000 people from 134 nations are registered. Germany's aces, like Melat Kejeta and Samuel Fitwi, are using the marathon as a readiness test for the Olympic marathon in Paris, are hoping to qualify for the half marathon at the European Athletics Championships in Rome and are even aiming for the European record. The 43rd GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON promises to be a huge sports festival to open the 2024 running season on the streets of the capital. And for the first time, it will be part of the "SuperHalfs"—a series of six top European half marathon races in Germany, Spain, Denmark, Portugal, Great Britain and the Czech Republic. In this digital event magazine, you will find all the information about Germany's biggest half marathon, which will take place in Berlin on 7 April 2024. We are not only presenting the favourites, but also people have their own special motivations for running their half marathons. Of course, it includes all the dates, the best photos from previous years and a preview of what runners and spectators can expect on the half marathon weekend in the capital, as well as lots of tips for the race and the supporting programme in Berlin.

The anticipation is

The anticipation is huge: when the starting gun is fired for the 43rd GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON on 7 April, a record field will take to the course. And it‘s sure to be a fast race, too. participants from 134 countries across the different events, the field at the starting line will be impressive. The demand was correspondingly high and the starting spots were sold out in record time. One reason for the great interest in the race in Berlin is certainly the fast course. If you want to achieve a new best time, you should start on the Spree River. With over 26,000 finishers and a record number of female runners (around 40 per cent), the GENERALI BER- LIN HALF MARATHON 2023 was faster than ever for the elite runners: 32 men ran times of under 65:00 minutes, and for the first time over 100 athletes stayed under 70:00 minutes. There were 104 sub-70s runners, to be precise. 25 women finished under 75:00 minutes and 67 stayed under 1:20:00 - 8 -

hours. For the first time in the history of athletics, more than 2000 runners finished a half marathon in under 1:30 hours. Incidentally, the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON was recently awarded the status of an Elite Label Race by World Athletics, the umbrella organisation for all national athletics associations.
