Richard Ringer läuft in Berlin seinen ersten Halbmarathon. Richard Ringer will be running his first half marathon in Berlin surprised all experts when he continued easily up to 31k. He had passed the half marathon mark in 64:52. „The experience to run in Frankfurt was a very positive one. And I had not done that much training for this“ said Richard Ringer, who lives in Unteruhldingen at Lake Bodensee, Germany’s biggest lake next to the Swiss and Austrian border. Richard Ringer, who was impressed by Ethiopia’s world record breaking runners Haile Gebrselassie and Kenenisa Bekele as a youngster, remembers three incidents that convinced him to seriously turn to running. „When I was ten years old I competed in a 800 metres race and finished third with a time of around 2:52. The tremendous feeling to be on the podium made me join an athletics club.“ When he was 15 he found his name in a season’s list of the German Athletics Federation (DLV) for the first time. With a 1,500 m time of 4:09 he made it into the list for the best under 18 year-olds. „Then there was a race for young athletes during the European Cross Country Championships in Heringsdorf (Usedom island/Germany) in 2004 which I won,“ says Richard Ringer. As a senior he took the bronze medal in the 5,000 m final of the European Championships in 2016 and won the European 10,000 m Cup a year ago. Additionally Ringer was third in the European Indoors’ 3,000 m final in 2017. Richard Ringer is a self-coached athlete, who has a part-time job as a controller at Rolls-Royce Power Systems. Eine kleine Gruppe von Athleten wird bestmöglich gefördert. Mittelfristig sollen auch talentierte Nachwuchsläufer hinzukommen. Trainer in dem Team ist der Erfolgs-Coach Dieter Hogen. Er führte in den 90er-Jahren neben Uta Pippig eine Reihe von kenianischen Läufern in die Marathon-Weltspitze. Zurzeit besteht das Team aus vier Athleten: Lisa Hahner und Philipp Baar, der am 7. April in Wien Marathon läuft, sowie Anna Hahner und Fabian Clarkson, die beim GENERALI BERLINER HALBMARATHON starten. jw Germany’s best road races produce international top results. To change this organizer SCC EVENTS founded an elite race team: the SCC EVENTS PRO TEAM. A small group of athletes receive maximum support and it is planned to include talented youngsters as well in the future. Berlin’s renowned coach Dieter Hogen heads the team. Back in the 90ies he guided Uta Pippig and a number of Kenyan runners to major international victories. Currently there are four athletes in the SCC EVENTS PRO TEAM: Marathon runners Lisa Hahner und Philipp Baar - he will compete in Vienna - plus Anna Hahner and Fabian Clarkson, who are on the start list of the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON. jw 50
