Anne after finishing her first half marathon in Berlin together with her mother Ursula (left) and sister Julia 28 Anne ist natürlich erst einmal froh, nach ihrer langen Verletzungspause überhaupt wieder bei einem Rennen mitlaufen zu können. „Wir werden bestimmt zusammen loslaufen und erst einmal die tolle Stimmung genießen.“ Die kennt sie von ihrem Halbmarathondebüt 2017. „Ich freue mich total drauf. Ich weiß wenn’s schwer wird, sind die Berliner da und feuern einen an.“ Und dann? „Hinten raus wird sich zeigen, wer mehr Puste hat.“ Julia sage zwar, dass ihr der Vergleich mit der kleinen Schwester nicht so wichtig sei. Aber kampflos werde sie ihr den Sieg nicht überlassen - davon ist Anne überzeugt. Anne Trommershäuser wird man sicher noch öfter beim GENERALI BER- LINER HALBMARATHON sehen. Im Rahmen ihres Studiums hat sie 2018 ein Praktikum beim Veranstalter SCC Events absolviert und später noch ein paar Monate dort gearbeitet. „Berlin ist schon groß - und bunt. Daran musste ich mich erst gewöhnen. Aber ich habe es irgendwann lieben gelernt.“ So sehr, dass sie sich fest vorgenommen hat, nach ihrem Master, den sie in den kommenden zwei Jahren in Düsseldorf machen will, wieder bei SCC Events anzuheuern. Anne Trommershäuser cannot do without sports. “I quickly become insufferable,” she says. That’s why 2018 was a difficult year for her. After running her first 42.195 km at the Frankfurt Marathon, an obstinate case of osteitis pubis took her out of action for a full year. “I could only do a bit of cycling or swimming. And I went to the gym a lot and did some upper body work.” Meanwhile, the 23-year-old, who has just completed her bachelor’s degree in event management and event technology at the Technical University of Mittelhessen in Giessen, is back in training, in good spirits and has one goal in mind: She wants to beat her older sister at the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON.

She’s a good year older than Anne. The big sister as a role model and incentive—that has always been the case: Julia started with track as a kid, so Anne wanted to, too. Julia concentrated on the 1500 m; Anne followed in her footsteps. When Julia finally started to run half marathons, Anne could not help herself: she had to, as well. And Anne did not just want to emulate her, she wanted more: “It has always been important to me to be faster than my sister,” says Anne, laughing. “She used to always take that in stride and just say, ‘Okay, the little kid is just faster.’“ And even if it is just by a few seconds: The personal bests for the half marathon for both of them lie at around 1:39, with Anne slightly in the lead. And how serious will the duel be in Berlin this time? Of course, Anne is happy to be back competing in a race after such a long injury break. “We will definitely start out together and enjoy the great atmosphere.” She experienced it at her half-marathon debut in 2017. “I’m really looking forward to it. I know when it’s hard, the Berliners are there ready to cheer me on.” And after the start? “The end of the race will show who has more breath left.” Julia doesn’t think it is as important to compare herself with her little sister. But she won’t let her win without a fight—Anne is convinced about that. You will undoubtedly see more of Anne Trommershäuser at the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON. As part of her studies, she completed an internship with the event organizer SCC EVENTS in 2018 and later worked there for a few months. “Berlin is big—and colourful. I had to get used to it first, but I’ve learned to love it.” She loves it so much so that she has decided to go back to SCC EVENTS after completing her Master’s degree, which she hopes to complete in Düsseldorf in two years.
