What an amazing GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON we experienced on April 7, 2019. Under the best spring weather conditions, 29,757 runners and inline skaters completed the 21.0975 kilometres to the new finish at the Brandenburg Gate, after enjoying a fantastic sightseeing tour of the capital. Although Sifan Hassan from the Netherlands missed the women's targeted world record, she delivered a new course record in a strong 65:45 minutes. And Richard Ringer led the tough field of German runners, completing his first half marathon in 62:10 minutes to finish seventh. S A F E T Y P I N S 144,000 safety pins were distributed so that the participants could not only display their race numbers on their selfies, but also attach them to their shirts. 31,000 to 35,000 each: the number of bananas, ultraGels and ultraBars that were distributed to the participants. In addition 12,000 litres of Beetster and Refresher sports drinks were provided by ultraSPORTS along with 25,000 litres water. 50,000 of the 298,000 drinking cups used were recyclable. The cups made of silicone were provided by Adidas, so that each participant could take a cup on the course and reuse it. 905 S E C U R I T Y police and medical personnel were on duty. 140 policemen provided security for the start and finish. 560 people regulated the traffic along the course.
