There is hardly any better feeling than running through the Brandenburg Gate just before the finish line There it is, you can’t miss it: the Brandenburg Gate. I notice how every runner near me tries to squeeze out any remnants of strength one final time. I‘m in the “tunnel” now. My eyes are only on the gate. Muffled by my focus, I hear the cheers of the crowd on the left and right of the course. Too much lactate is rushing through my head, my legs, my whole body. At no moment do pain and happiness lie as close together as on the home stretch. I ran a personal best and achieved my goal. The new course already gave me goose bumps at the start as I headed toward the Victory Column. The sightseeing tour through the city and the party on the course pushed me towards the finish line. There is no better feeling than passing through the Brandenburg Gate. I have exuberantly finished the marathon here three times now. Now for the first time, the half marathon. My expectations for the Generali Berlin Half Marathon were high due to my experiences with the marathon. I was not disappointed. Berlin rocks - regardless if for the 42.195 or 21.0975 kilometres! 28
