I pass on the energy fix

I pass on the energy fix and continue to the next hotspot: Potsdamer Platz. Another endless party. That comes at just the right time, because it‘s getting exhausting now. The sun has been beating down directly in my face since kilometre eight, the sweat trickles, the lactate rises. For the next kilometres, one Berlin highlight follows the next one. The route takes us past the tourist hotspot, Checkpoint Charlie. History was once written at the former border crossing between East and West. Here only the Allied soldiers and diplomats were allowed to cross the border. For Germans, the area on Friedrichstrasse was off limits. Today we run past it to write our own histories: a personal best or simply an unforgettable sightseeing run through Berlin. A new hotspot on the route is Gendarmenmarkt, which, with the Schauspielhaus symphony hall and the French and the German Cathedrals, is one of the most beautiful squares in all of Berlin. Now it is not far to the finish line at the Brandenburg Gate, and we head back west along the magnificent boulevard Unter den Linden.
