What an amazing GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON we experienced on April 7, 2019. Under the best spring weather conditions, 29,757 runners and inline skaters completed the 21.0975 kilometres to the new finish at the Brandenburg Gate, after enjoying a fantastic sightseeing tour of the capital. Although Sifan Hassan from the Netherlands missed the women's targeted world record, she delivered a new course record in a strong 65:45 minutes. And Richard Ringer led the tough field of German runners, completing his first half marathon in 62:10 minutes to finish seventh. Editorial by Anna Hahner Anna Hahner runs for the SCC EVENTS PRO TEAM. At the 39th GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON, she finished eleventh in 1:15:42 hours after a long injury break. This left her more than two minutes off her best time (1:13:12 h), but it marked a successful and above all healthy return to the marathon scene. With gratitude through the Gate Maybe you feel like I do: Berlin is just the right running city for me. There is no greater moment than finishing at the Brandenburg Gate. It‘s fabulous to now be able to enjoy this experience not only at the BMW BERLIN MARATHON but also at the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON. Personally, I‘m super happy that I was able to run my first race after half a year without a half or marathon in Berlin, together with over 35,000 other runners and hundreds of thousands of spectators. Before the race, I felt like I might have preferred to return after the long injury break with a smaller race and less attention. But then, it was incredible to see how many runners have so much respect for top athletes making their way back even if they are not yet in top form. I certainly feel a great sense of gratitude to be back on the marathon scene, and I hope you really enjoy this digital magazine, which will surely remind you for a long time of your own great personal moments at the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON.
